¶ Backyard Sports does not keep weekly individual player stats for the sole reason that this creates individualism. We promote
the “team concept” in lieu of individualism. Other organizations may consider that a positive asset while we consider it a promotion
of self-gratification. The end result being that 1 or 2 players are the entire team rather than giving each and every player
on the team an opportunity to play and learn the game.
¶ The Backyard Sports website is fully active, updated
daily and is extremely user friendly to all who visit to gather information about Backyard Sports.
¶ Backyard
Sports is currently in the midst of our 11th season of Flag Football and our 5th year in operation. Over 3,500 players have
participated since the inception of Backyard Flag Football. We are proud to lay claim as “Pittsburgh’s #1 Youth Coed Flag Football
League”!

Backyard Flag Football…Pittsburgh’s
#1 Coed Youth Flag Football League
Welcome to Pittsburgh’s #1 Coed Youth Flag Football League. In September we will be entering into our 15th season of Backyard Flag Football. Our goal at Backyard Sports is to give every child
an opportunity to develop, learn the rules and be a participant. In our league you don’t have to be the best athlete. Everyone plays
an equal amount of time. We don’t ask the kids or the parents to commit to practices 5 days a week; instead we practice once a week,
usually on Saturdays. For those who have already committed to tackle football “No Need to Worry” we have you covered. We do
not make Saturday practices mandatory. Instead we ask each of our coaches to arrive 45 minutes before their game time on Sundays and
run plays with each of the players who are participating in tackle football programs. If the kids, parents and coaches agree to have
an additional practice then they will work together to find a time that’s convenient for all. Our practices are different from practices
you have seen in other leagues and organizations; they consist of teaching and explaining the rules and the concept behind playing
Flag Football to each and every child. We will never ask your child to run laps, to lose weight or make weight; instead we will teach
your child the game of flag football. No child who signs up to play will sit on the sidelines or not participate. He or she will be
treated special regardless of his or her size or athletic ability and will enjoy meeting new friends. He or she will learn the
rules of the games along with how to play offense and defense all while having fun!. They will learn the “team concept”, camaraderie
and sportsmanship…lessons that will stay with them a lifetime! If you have tried soccer in the past, give flag football a try. We
guarantee you will enjoy playing flag football.
If you have participated in Backyard Flag Football you know what our league is all
about…the kids! If you plan on participating in one of the upcoming registrations, we know you will enjoy the experience. Tell
your friends and neighbors to come and join in the fun of Backyard Flag Football. Backyard Flag Football is one big family!
You’ve tried the rest now try the best!
